The Defenders helicopter is great for anti air defense, because of its cannon and the independent missiles.

I must say a couple of things, there is a reply earlier talknig about raining down 120mm rounds from the chopper, JESUS WHAT IS HE FLYING!?!?! its 30mm lol.
If you are hovering, DONT HOVER MAX ALTITUDE, this labels you as a sky sniper, sky sniper are not good players and dont deserve respect, atall.
The EOTL defence chopper(Mi-28 Havoc aka the big grey 1) is a weird 1 if you prefer it over the apache, its bigger therefore much easier to hit and its harder to aim due to lack of a proper crosshair and it jitters every time you fire. The oasis defence chopper(Ka-52 Alligator aka the big black 1) is a pilots dream, the gunner would be lucky to kill anything with it but the pilots 30mm gun allows him to kill infantry with ease, but it can have trouble dealing with the AA(unless you get the aim right) vehicles go down easy if you start off firing slow then speed up towards the end. And this heli is alot worse off in a dogfight with the apache, MUCH WORSE. Finally the apache ah-64, basicly the havoc but smaller and easier to aim. this is the helicopter that can deal with any situation if it has a both seats filled.
But seriously dont fly max alitude, if you do your lame

In regards to flying high in the choppers being "lame", I'd suggest that this tactic is a great one to use. It may not be noob proof, but an effective tactic it is. And why wouldn't someone want to use the most effective tactics available?
Remember, it's not always the best and most highly trained army that wins a battle. The one that wins is usually the one that couples training, skill, and effective tactics to achieve an overall victory.

its not a RESPECTED tactic, use it all you want but you will be seen as a complete noob by any self respecting pilot, its like the M16 in COD, use it all you like but dont you dare claim its not a lame weapon

Sky snipers arent a problem, they never move fast enough to dodge a stream of 50cal and i usually make my way to their repair points, besides, if there is a helicopter in the map, im usually in it, nice to know your a self certified noob

I use it quite frequently (not always, though), but I'm usually the pilot- therefore gunner gets the kills. And I'm only a decent pilot at best. But I really enjoy flying if I've got someone who's a decent gunner. Providing support to those on the ground is the key role of the chopper in my mind. The best and most effective way to do this is to go where the action is and have the gunner pick people off.
I've ridden with some really good pilots before and I'm not even in the same league- don't claim to be. I'm not a noob, just not a real good pilot like a lot of folks. The hover tactic works well for the overall team most of the time, even for "not so great" pilots such as myself.
Like has been mentioned before, the hover tactic doesn't show anything special in terms of choper pilot ability and almost anyone can do it. But then again, I'm comfortable with the size of my johnson and therefore don't have anything to prove to anyone else (nothing implied about anyone's johnson in particular, just a statement).

1st off, gunner kills are counted towards the pilot leaderboard, thats why most of the top 15 are actually pilots. Second, sky sniping and hovering are different, sky sniping is a type of hovering, i hover, but i dont sky snipe, i hover at about antenna height, sky sniping involves max altitude/distance hovering.

I tried flying many times … but I gave it up …

really the landing was the easiest to learn for me. I am by no means good at flying the chopper but decent enough. My gunner usually lays down the rain and i am getting better with the rockets on every pass. it is all about practice, practice, practice. The more you fly it the better off you will be. As for getting your hands on it use the custom game to pick maps specificaly with the choppers. Then its just a race for the d@mn thing. I have noticed it is easier on the unranked matches. Or just hang out around the spawn point. It will show up eventually. If anyone else gets there and starts waiting for it to....well its up to you how to handle them.
As for flying really the only advice I have is to practice. Getting in low is one of the most devistating attacks you can learn. The best place to practice that is on eotl or oasis, or now on Par where you can skim the water. Since the water is flat terrain you can practice getting in low and fast. If your rough on the landings practice that also but like it has already been said its not how hard you go down its how even you go down.
You start to get a feel for when the thing has just about had it. if you know you cant escape, or you made the mistake of not spawning support fly it in real low and jump out right in the middle of their base. If you can try to finish of the heli before you take off killing the enemy so it will spawn back at base (dont let it fall into enemy hans.
