Interview snippet with EA rep about the upcoming downloadable shooter.
Media: Battlefield 1943 was announced last week. Is it mostly a remake of 1942 or is it offering any changes to the original?
EA: No. It uses some of 1942’s maps such as Wake Island, Water Canal, and Iwo Jima. It is like a condensed version of the original.
Media: Is there only 3 maps in the game or some more will be announced later?
EA: There are only 3 maps because it is a downloadable game.
Media: Was these three maps decision made based on the fact that it is downloadable, or is it based more on the same creed that Battlefield Heroes was created under. We remember listening to DICE talk about how there are a ton of maps that rarely get played in many of the games while 1 or 2 of the maps become huge and that populates every server. This is why Heroes has a small map count.
EA: We have followed a similar strategy in 1943 also.
Media: How many vehicles will there be in the game?
EA: There will be planes, tanks, jeeps, and of course boats. These will all be featured, but yes, they are different for each side of the fight.
Media: Is there any offline botmatch options?
EA: No, only online.
