Q/A With Conquest Producer

Gordon van Dyke, Producer on the upcoming Conquest map pack, answers a short Q&A Round on the release.

What does a good Conquest map look like in your opinion?

A good Conquest map caters to the type of map you want to make. Is it Infantry focused, make it in a tight quarters with lots of objects to hide around and Flags that are closer with little to no vehicles. Is it more Vehicle focused, make it in a more open area with less objects to obstruct your vehicle movements. On top of that a Conquest map must be open for multiple strategies. The map should evolve and allow for new strategies as players become accustomed to the map. If the map is too streamlined it will quickly become boring as every session played becomes a re-run of the previous session.

What do you think about the potential of introducing Conquest on single player levels?

Single player campaigns for Battlefield Bad Company were built to feel like a multiplayer game, but deliver a compelling story. Because of that design choice the single player maps just scream for multiplayer goodness.

Why do you think Conquest has become such a favorite in the Battlefield community?

Conquest offers an environment for uncertainty, and that is exciting. Every match is always different without making your surroundings unfamiliar and that leads to unpredictable moments that some have coined Battlefield Moments. It also offers a nice balance to Gold Rush which is objective based and a more controlled progression of your battles.

Conquest mode which was newly released for Battlefield Bad Company for PC Multi player mode has brought some extra effects onto the game itself. This popular mode from the old versions of Battlefield is now intergrated into the new Battlefield Bad Company where former players can now enjoy Conquest mode in this new game. As a player of the old version of battlefield, I have to say that the Conquest mode is the best mode to play Multi-player on. Since in Battlefield Bad Company, lighting and weather effects are slowly added onto new maps.

The conquest mode for this game will be out of this world with the new graphics and effects to make the gameplay a lot better. If you are fan of Battlefield, Battlefield Bad Company will be the game made for you, not only because of Conquest mode but because that it will get better and Conquest mode will also get better. More maps will have effects to make the map more realistic. The basics of Conquest mode has been explained but also when your team have more flag than the other team, their pointswill slowly decrease until it reaches zero, once that happens, victory is yours.

Keep those weapons on ready soldier we are releasing Conquest Mode on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 soon, for free! The content will include the traditional Battlefield multiplayer game mode, Conquest. Conquest focuses on the capture and control of flags; once a team captures a control point, its members can re-spawn in the area. When a team loses control of all their flags or control points, they cannot re-spawn.

Maintaining control over the flags on the battlefield is a key to victory and the ability to re-spawn troops close to the battlefront can make all the difference for that last offensive push. Four existing maps have been redesigned along with all new lighting and weather effects, to give players a great battlefield on which to play Conquest.  Upon entering one of these maps, the U.S. ARMY will face off against either the Russian or Middle Eastern Coalition forces and the battle for control of the territory will begin. Look for more information soon from DICE on the release date and more details on Conquest Mode.

See you on the Battlefield!
